ID documents question when renewing visa
« on: September 01, 2022, 06:30:51 PM »
Hello all!  I'm preparing my documents for my visa renewal (woohoo) and have a question about ID documents.

On the checklist of things to send, it says I will need to submit the following:
- My passport
- Copy of spouse's ID document (in this case his passport)
- Copy of ID document of owner of property I live in, since we are living with his mother and do not own/rent our own place (in this case also a passport)

At the end of the online application process, it has the note "Any passports provided must be originals."  Does this actually mean I need to send in the physical passports of all three of us?  Or can I just send mine in, with copies of my husband's and mother-in-law's passports?  I'm questioning it because the list says "copies of ID documents" for them, but then there is that note at the end about all passports needing to be original.

Any help would be appreciated!

I'm also renewing my visa and read on here that we actually get to keep our original passports this time (although we can't use them for travel while our application is still being processed). Everything will need to be scanned and uploaded, whether you do it yourself at home or pay for them to do it at your biometric appointment.
