It's ILR time - Savings and Super Priority question
« on: December 23, 2022, 11:44:10 PM »
Good evening all :)

It's finally ILR (SET-M) time! My 5 years in the U.K. arrives in a few days, and whilst we could have applied 28 days prior to that date, with the holidays and delays in getting some documents signed, we are waiting until January. I only have a few questions.

In the last applications (original spouse visa application, and renewal) we relied on income using payslips, P-60s, letter from employer, and corresponding bank statements.

This year we are in a fortunate position to have savings substantial enough to apply via that route and it has been held for over 6 months above the minimum required (we still both work and earn above the minimum income requirement). I have heard in the past the savings route is the easiest (I expect this is due to the lesser amount of paperwork needed, and thankfully no need to get his employer or mine to sign anything!).

Since ILR is a tick-box exercise, I assume Home Office doesn't give a hoot whether we are working and just care we meet some kind of financial requirement.

Questions
1. Is savings the easiest and best route to go if we can, even though we meet financials through other routes?
2. Is this entire list redundant now? P-60, letter from employer, 7 months payslips, 7 months corresponding bank statements, contract
3. What do we need to provide instead? I assume 7 months bank statements where the money is held (his account), and a declaration of the source of funds?
4. The last two visas really did a number on my stress levels, so we are going to try for Priority or Super Priority this time. What is the process? I know the slots are released at midnight or 1:00am? How can I confirm that I am only applying when I can select SP? Do I wait until midnight or 1am to submit my application and hope the slot is open, or will I have a chance once I submit to see appointments and try again another day before I pay?

I really appreciate the help! Thanks to the great responses from previous applications I've had on here, I am set for everything else :)

Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!!  :D

Yes, savings is the easiest, with the least amount of paperwork required.

Yes, you can discard that list now.

Yes, that's correct.

For ILR, there is no £500 Priority option available, so your only option is the £800 Super Priority, which will give a decision by the end of the next working day after the appointment.

The Super Priority slots are released at midnight at the moment (it's midnight during the winter, Oct to Mar, and 1:00 am during British Summer Time, Mar to Oct).

What you need to do is:
- make sure the application is complete
- log into your application just before midnight
-  at midnight, press the 'Submit Application' button, which will take you through to the application submission and visa payment screen
- if it gives you the option to purchase the Super Priority service for £800, then select it, complete the submission and pay for the visa (should come to £2404 + £19.20 + £800 = £3,223.20)
- if there is no Super Priority offered, and you only see the standard option, DO NOT pay for anything or complete the application submission... just log out of your application and close the window
- you can then log in and try again at midnight the next night... and you just keep trying each night until the Super Priority option shows up for you
