ILR scanning in documents

I chose to scan in my own documents instead of paying over £100 for them to do it at my biométrica appointment, but I’m a bit lost regarding the categories. Common sense would say to put some things in one category, but is there a certain way they’re expecting them to be scanned in?

 Also, my cover letter, what should that include other than mistakes I may have made or information they need to know?

Yes, just go with common sense, as long as it's all in there you're fine. Take the documents to your appointment just in case there is any problem with legibility or anything though.

No need for a letter unless something needs further explanation.

The categories we generally suggest are:

Applicant/Application Documents:
- applicant’s passport
- signed sponsor declaration and/or consent to checks forms (whichever are required for ILR)

Proof of Identity/Travel History:
- sponsor’s UK passport
- applicant’s BRP card

Finances
- all the financial documents

Residence in the UK
- accommodation documents
- cohabitation documents

Other
- marriage certificate
- any divorce decrees (if applicable)
- children’s documents (if either of you have any kids in the U.K.)
- any other documents you are including

And then you leave all the other categories blank.

thank you both for the help. I do have one more question - Do I put all of the same documents in those categories for my US born son's application or do I just have to add his personal information and documents that just pertain to him/his residency?

I have under my son's categories

Mandatory-
proof of identity/travel:
-all passport pages
-BRP front and back
-US birth certificate

Other:
-my court order for sole custody of him (also included in my part of the application)
-my British husband's passport ID pages
-My cover letter which explains some things on my son's application portion

Residence:
-a letter with his current and previous addresses on it, along with when we moved to the current one and who lives at the address (best I can get)

Finances:
-my British husbands signed contract
-" " " employer letter



I have used the checklist they send, and have ticked off all of the boxes. I did add every page of the bank statements to my own application

Am I missing anything/added things that shouldn't be added to my son's application, or can I submit it, as my Biometrics appointment is coming up soon and I am starting to get anxious that I haven't submitted these yet

If you have run through the checklist submit it.   If something is missing they will contact you.

There is no need to worry, the UKVI process is very robust.  If you meet the criteria, which you do, then it will be approved.
