Taxes during a Roth conversion.
« on: February 05, 2023, 05:33:00 PM »
I plan to convert some of my IRA to Roth while receiving UK state pension and US social security.  If these are my only sources of income will the only tax I pay to the IRS be due to the conversion?  I assume being a US/UK citizen resident in the UK I will owe tax on these pensions to the UK only.  Cheers.

The short answer is yes. UK OAP and US SS is only taxable in the UK so the US would only tax the Roth conversion money.
Dual USC/UKC living in the UK since May 2016

The UK State pension is fully US taxable to a UK resident US citizen.  The US allows a credit for UK tax paid to HMRC.
