Hello!
« on: February 02, 2005, 06:44:12 PM »
Hello all!

Just thought I would take a minute to introduce myself as I'll probably be availing myself of the collective wisdom here quite a lot the next several months.

I'm Jenn, 29, from Atlanta, GA.  My boyfriend currently lives in Southampton, and I hope to join him there by year's end.

I must say how glad I am to have finally come across this site.  And let me just say thank you in advance for helping with what I'm sure will be many questions, as well as the occasional freak out!

Jenn

Hi and welcome Jenn! Have you been to the UK yet for a visit?

All the best,
Connie

Hi Connie,

Was there for a week in October.  My boyfriend is coming to stay with me in mid-March for about 7 weeks (he was just here 2 weeks over the holidays) and then I'll be back to see him hopefully for about a week or so in June-July.

Hi Jenn!  I moved here from Atlanta, GA as well.  My parents still live there part of the year.  Can you stop by the Highlands and send me a sandwhich from Alon's?   ;D

Good luck with the upcoming plans and let us know if you need anything.

Lol -- you wouldn't believe how often I get that response.  He's a builder.  He owns his own company, basically meaning he subcontracts himself out.  So, he can take as much time as he wants really, but there's always that backlash catching back up with pay.

As for how I liked it, I spent most of the time in London, which was amazing, but I could never live there.  I was only able to get down to Southampton, where he lives, for a day.  It's a bit industrialized, but then it is a major port after all.  But the sea, the New Forrest, so much is so close.  I did quite like it -- which is good I guess as I'll be living there assuming all goes well  ;)

Well, now we know why builders in the UK never get a job done and why the profession has such bad reputation ... LOL!  :P

Welcome to UKY!

If I thought it would keep until I got it to you!  I'm going to have to work out some sort of exchange program I think! Right now I need Schweppes Lemoade over here. Impossible to find!

And thanks for all the support already, everyone.  Have a feelingI'm going to need it.

Hi Jenn,

Welcome!  I love nearby (ish) to Southampton in Gosport (about a 1/2 hour away); I've been here just over 2 years.

Good luck with the future move!

Maureen
