ILR app clarification and co-hab post dates
« on: August 12, 2023, 05:11:00 PM »
Hi again all, I just need a bit of clarification for ILR app.

1. Question in the online app asks how long UKC spouse has lived in the UK. Do they want the total or the time since we’ve been back here living together? The latter makes more sense to me but I’m unsure.

2. Co-hab post. I always have issues here 😆 I’m submitting my app this month (end of August). I want to use post with the following dates:

July ‘23
Feb ‘23
Sept ‘22
April ‘22
Dec ‘21
July ‘21

Is that acceptable or does the most recent piece of post have to be within a certain period of time from application? July ‘23 post is dated the 17th. If I follow the pattern from August ‘23 I’ll be missing stuff from ‘21 within the exact pattern and I don’t want to be missing stuff again.

Many thanks in advance folks! 😊

1- Put from birth until X date and from Y date until present.

2- The mail for ILR is for 2.5 years or from your last grant of leave to remain. (Unless they have changed the wording recently) Most people cover 2.5 years even if they were granted FLR more recently than that.
You can always use 7 pieces to assist with the spacing.

Thanks Larrabee, I must’ve just seen 6 pieces of post and ran with it. I did my LITUK test on Friday and have been so stressed, my brain is frazzled.

My leave was granted in March 2021. Do I start with post from that month? Sorry, I’m not sure why this always baffles me.

Personally I would count back 2.5 years from the most recent month you are using.

So, if you are using mail from July 2023, you'll want to go back to January 2021 and use the following months:

January 2021
June 2021
November 2021
April 2022
September 2022
February 2023
July 2023

Or if you have mail from August 2023, you would want to go back to February 2021 and use mail from these months:

February 2021
July 2021
December 2021
May 2022
October 2022
March 2023
August 2023

That’s perfect, thank you so much ksand! I’ve got everything for the August list. 👍

For the proof of address for my kids, I’ve had letters written by the school in the past but I wonder if dated NHS letters addressed to “the parent or guardian of” followed by child’s full name, would be sufficient or do they expect a letter specifically written for purpose?

As long as the NHS letters are dated within the last 3 months and contain the childrens' names and their address, you can use those.

If you don't have any letters dated within the last 3 months, you'll need to get new ones from either their GP or their school.

Excellent, I can check those off my list too then. Thanks again 😊

Thank you! I passed but I was so nervous! I’d studied non-stop though so turns out I didn’t need to be 😊

Anyone who stumbles upon this thread in the future: take your LITUK test well before you have to! 😆

Completely agree. Do it sooner rather than later.  :)

Congratulations!  [smiley=balloon.gif]
