Naturalisation App Questions
« on: August 19, 2023, 02:58:19 PM »
Hello,

I'm filling out the naturalisation application and have a few questions that don't seem to be covered by official guidance that I'm hoping y'all can help me with.

1. My (British) husband and I are separated (not legally). We live 200+ miles apart and have for years now. If I put "married" for relationship status, I have to put him down as if we're, well, married, and then provide copies of his passport and such. If I put "separated" - despite the guidance saying separated still counts as married to them - there's no option to input a current partner, only a previous one, which then asks for date of divorce, etc.
Question: What's the best way? Should I put separated, list him as a previous partner, then put the date I moved out as the date of dissolution? I don't really want to provide his documents, and I don't need him for it as I've been on ILR for 8 years.

2. Does the BRP count as a "national identity card"? The application doesn't like that I'm telling it I don't have a valid ID (my US passport and UK provisional licence are both expired).

3. For "proof of living in the UK", do y'all think my expired passport with a border stamp from 2011 ('original' entry) & 2013 (from a holiday) and no further stamps is enough to prove I've been living in the UK? I think I'm overthinking this one, and the passport by itself is fine, just wanted to see if anyone has any other opinions!

4. Again, I think I'm overthinking it, but to clarify: For the referee declarations, who, exactly, is meant to write my name on the back of the photo and glue it to the form? The way it's written makes me think it's meant to be the referee, but I'm not sure that makes sense.

Thank you in advance!
