Citizenship timescales
« on: August 04, 2023, 04:29:29 PM »
My wife applied for citizenship back in April, she's heard nothing so far, anyone have any ideas how long it's taking these days?
There have been no questions or queries from immigration and everything went ok at submission of documents.
Cheers

Hubby’s citizenship approval took over 9 months.  The application was straight forward with no areas of concern.

That must sound like a horror story to you but the thing is you just have to forget about it.  I know, easier said than done.  You already have Indefinite Leave to Remain so can settle in and wait.  You can’t vote - at the moment - but probably will be able to by the time the next election comes along.

My advice is to not read anything with the title “Citizenship.”

There is nothing more disheartening than reading about someone who applied 4 weeks ago who has just been approved.

It will happen when it happens.  They have not queried anything which is an excellent sign.  Unfortunately right now is prime holiday  season and so lots of those processing may be off.

Waiting is hard but try not to worry.

Mine just came through about 2 weeks ago, and it was around 9 months. Mine was a little complicated though.

From the start of our visa journey until yesterday has been about 6 years!

Yesterday hubby became a British citizen.

Thank you everyone who has helped and supported us over the years.
