Confused about the new Biometrics cards
« on: November 27, 2023, 11:00:08 AM »
Hello! I am very confused about receiving my biometrics card with the 2024 expiration. Are they sending us a new updated card? When do we re apply or do we need to?  I received my final ILR card yet I am confused if and when I need to re apply or where do I access my status for employers and such? Thanks!

You don't need to do anything.

Your BRP card will expire on 31st December 2024, and then from 1st January 2025, there will be no BRP cards at all, and your immigration status will be accessed online instead.

More details about how you will be able to check your immigration status online will be released by UKVI in early 2024.

From the UKVI website (https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits/report-problem):

Quote
If your BRP expires on 31 December 2024

You do not need to tell UKVI if your BRP expires on 31 December 2024 but your immigration status (for example, your visa) allows you to stay longer.

You will not need a BRP from 1 January 2025. You’ll be able to prove your immigration status online, without a BRP.

UKVI will update their information on how to prove your immigration status in early 2024. You do not need to do anything and your immigration status will not be affected.
