brp and travel

Hi forummites

We're in a bit of a pickle! We're due to go to the US for thanksgiving on Wednesday, but we can't find Tre's BRP.  He normally keeps it in a wallet with a couple of debit cards, and no money has gone out of those accounts so we're convinced it's not so much 'lost' as 'misplaced'.

We've been doing some DIY projects in the flat which has meant moving stuff from room to room, so we suspect it's fallen behind some furniture or been 'put safe' by one of us.

Where do we stand if we can't find it? Paying c£800 for an express replacement seems excessive, especially when doing so almost certainly means we'll find it the next day!  I've heard that border force people can check anyway, but we've already had one instance where the BRP was in hold luggage and we don't want to test the patience of the border force people.  He does have a picture of it on his phone if that helps.

ILR is due in about 10 months so if it doesn't show up once we finish up the DIY we'll have to get a new one but we have no travel plans in early 2024.

Cheers for any advice or recent experiences of similar :)

So we're applying for a new BRP but we can't get a clear idea of what documents are required for the biometrics appointment. We can't see that we've been told to bring any, which might make sense given that we're just replacing an existing card, but we don't want to waste the time and money for not being prepared. Tre will take his passport and a bank statement from the last 3 months - anything else?

Appointment is tomorrow so any advice gratefully received.
