Hi all! Have found this thread soooo useful over the years, and thrilled to be close to the end.
I have a question about the documents needed to support the citizenship application. What is:
Proof of living in the UK for [applicant] for 5 years if applying in your own right or 3 years if applying as the spouse of a British Citizen
Would that be bills etc as with previous applications?
Nope, you only need your passport.
From the paper version of the application form (Form AN:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/62b5d7988fa8f5356eecc531/form-an-06-2022.pdf):
3: Evidence you were physically present in the UK:
• 3 years ago (if the applicant is married or in civil partnership with a British citizen), or
• 5 years ago (for all other applications)
For most applications this will be your passports but if your passports do not confirm this, letters from employers, educational establishments or other Government Departments indicating presence in UK.
The citizenship application has almost no required documents compared to a visa application.
All you should need is:
- your passport (and previous passports held since arriving)
- your ILR BRP card
- your spouse's UK passport
- your marriage certificate
- Life in the UK test reference number (entered into application form)
- 2 referee forms
[- if you are self-employed, your latest tax return statement]
