Renewing US passport as dual citizen
« on: August 03, 2024, 11:37:08 AM »
Hi everyone.

I've recently obtained my British citizenship and now also have a British passport. I need to renew my American passport.

I've looked at the instructions on the London embassy website. It's mostly straightforward, although I wish we could still do appointments as I get anxious about sending passports via mail.

Anyway, no where on the website does it say that you need to send your other passport if you a dual citizenship. However, most other countries I know of do require you to do that. So I was just hoping to see if anyone can confirm from experience that I don't have to send my UK passport? And any other advice anyone might have for doing the renewal.  Thanks so much

We renewed our US passports through the US Embassy in London a few years ago and I’m pretty sure that we didn’t need to send our British Passport in as well.  We did have to send in our US Passports when we renewed our UK passports.
