OLT.com warning on SSA 1042-S
« on: March 18, 2025, 05:57:04 PM »
Hi,

I'm using OLT.com to prepare my 1040NR as a NRA (UK Citizen/resident) as I owe taxes on an IRA Distribution (Roth conversion). I also received US SSA Retirement payments so have input that data from the SSA 1042-S I received. Now I'm getting a warning (which it says I can ignore!) that "If Form SSA 1042-S SSN is the same as PrimarySSN in the Return Header, then a binary attachment document with Description Signed Declaration and Green Card must be present".
I relinquished my GC in 2010 so can't provide that. I could write a certification, sign it an upload it to OLT.com. But, what would I be certifying? Or I could ignore it and hope that the efile doesn't get rejected for the reason given, though I could probably fix it and try it again.

Has anyone come across this before or have any insight into what I should put in the certification - the salient info about the relinquishment of the GC is already included in Schedule OI, but happy to state it again in a certification of that is what they want??

Thanks in advance for any help - hopefully my last question for Tax Year 2024!!
