Citizenship application question
« on: September 29, 2025, 11:21:36 PM »
Hello all,
I'm finally getting around to doing my citizenship application after receiving ILR in 2022.  The application asks me to provide details of trips outside the UK for the last three years.  I have somehow completely missed that I would need to provide this and haven't been keeping track of each trip for the last three years. Does anyone have a recommendation on how to handle this?  Can I just add the trips I can confirm and add a note somewhere saying there are more but I no longer have the details? Argh and thank you!

You  need to meet all the requirements, one of which is:-

Quote
To be eligible, you should not have:

spent more than 270 days outside the UK during the 3 years before your application
spent more than 90 days outside the UK in the last 12 months

Can you have a look at your old emails for the dates of when you left the CTA?

Applying for citizenship comes under the British Citizenship laws so has different requirements to the Immigration laws. You can read all the requirements on the UK government site:-

Do you take holiday photos?  My wife looked at all the old pictures to come up with the dates.

Good luck getting your citizenship, it is well worth it.

Thank you both for your helpful responses.  I have found everything except for a few travel dates, which I've had to estimate (I changed my original travel dates and do not have the confirmation of the changes).  In those cases, I may be off by a day or two.  I am well under the limit for days absent.  I have also added a statement saying that I've had to estimate some dates and where I have done so, I've done so to the best of my knowledge and ability.  I hope that's ok to do.

I have three other questions that are still a bit confusing to me:
 - is my proof of living in the UK the passport information and photocopy I will provide?  no bills, correct?
- where do I find the referee forms?  I have added referee information but I am now nearing the end of the application and don't see the actual referee forms in any of the guidance (Ignore this questions - I see that in Step 4, Declarations, there are links to the forms!)
 - one of my references is an actuary, the other is a volunteer justice of the peace.  Both are UK citizens.  I don't see "actuary" on the list of accepted professions.  I assume this will be ok even though this profession is not on the list?

Many thanks, as always, for your help, and apologies if I have asked a question that has been asked many other times before!
