Snow on our front drive this morning, but the stuff on the grass had already melted down by the time we woke up.

It's cold as f*** here today - if it weren't sunny I'm sure we'd have some. The cars were all frozen over and the pavement was crunchy this morning!

I really miss a good blizzard (seriously). Andrew and I were in the States for a month, yet we didn't get a snowflake. The day before we left, the temperature was at an abnormal 68 degrees--very bizarre for mid-January in the D.C. area. But sure enough, we left and lo and behold--snow. It hasn't snowed in Hove/Brighton since I've lived here, going on five years. Or if it has, it's been at night and hasn't stuck. Sigh.

I echo that sigh, Suzanne.  I really do miss having at least one good snow a year.  The most I've seen since being here has been about 3".

Sung to the tune of "Let It Snow"

"Well the weather outside is dreary,
"And my bones--they're gettin' weary,
"There isn't much chance of snow,
"Want it so!
"Want it so!
"Want it so!"

"I'm dreaming of making a snowman,
"But the sky is saying, 'No can...'
"A snowball or two would do,
"Let them through!
"Let them through!
"Let them through!"

"If the southeast should get some snow,
"What a wonderful day that would be,
"Pick you up when you're feeling low,
"Don't eat yellow snow--let it be!"

(Chorus)

Do you really all miss the snow?  After this past weekend, I can't wait to be rid of blizzards...
Back-breaking hours of shoveling (18 inches of snow!)
Getting your car plowed-in and having to dig it out to get to work on time
 Brown road slush
Having to drive less than 20 mph to get anywhere
Getting your car stuck in the snow and having to dig out
Having to wear those ugly snow boots
... and the list goes on

I have to admit that I don't miss the snow that I had to deal with in Boston - my flatmate would always go to her bf's house when snow was forecasted...(he had a son she helped with)...and so I was stuck dealing with our driveway...hours of shoveling was not fun.  But I do like snow a lot - wouldn't mind a few inches now and again while living here, but not expecting it at all.
