Proof of Finances Question
« on: February 08, 2005, 08:13:43 PM »
Hello all,

In trying to complie a list of things that we'll need to take to the Consulate's office for my spouse visa application, I'm kind of stuck on one thing.  My boyfriend owns his own business.  He has incorporation papers listing him as a director, etc.  Not quite as posh as it might sound as basically he's a builder and contracts himself out to other companies   ;).  Anyone have any idea as to what type of documents he should bring for proof of finances?  Obviously we'll both have bank statements, and I'm thinking we should probably bring his certificate of incorporation.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Jenn

I am by no means an expert (I haven't even put my visa application in yet) so someone may know more than me, but I think you will definitely need your bank statements, and I think he will have to show he is employed, so the incorporation papers would probably be beneficial.  My fiance has a letter from his employer stating he is a full time employee, earning this much money, etc.  I would assume that the incorporation letter from your husbands business would be similar.  You have to show that between the two of you, you have enough money to support you without using public funds until you find employment.  You can also use a co-sponsor if you are unsure if he makes enough money.   :)

i'd bring as much as possible, but that sounds ok.

i brought our bank statements, a copy of how much he makes in his letter from his employer (also what i made at my old job in the states).  Also any savings i had.

There was no problem for us!

Bank statements and proof of employment.  Normally that would be a letter from his employer, but since he's his own employer, take the certificate of incorporation.

Good luck! :)
