I just applied for my fiance visa online and paid. Here is the list of documents they asked for:
* completed application form VAF2 no problem
* your current passport no problem
* your old passport or a copy of it not applicable
* two recent passport photographs (not more than six months old) no problem
* If you are in the US - Valid US Immigration Status (originals not copies) e.g. Permanent Residence Card (issued before 21 April 1998) Advance Parole Document, Employment Authorisation Card etc HUH?
* evidence of funds available to you, for example recent bank statements covering at least the last three months I'm a little nervous about this, but I can supply it.
* a written invitation from your sponsor in the UK and a copy of their British passport/EU passport or UK residence permit no problem
* evidence of your current accommodation, for example mortgage or tenancy documents, utility bills, etc.
Some confusion here. My lease ended on Dec 31, and I've been living with my parents until I get the visa. Why do they need my current accomodation? Would my former lease and a letter from my parents suffice?
* evidence of your sponsors accommodation in the UK, for example mortgage or tenancy documents, etc.
no problem
* evidence of your sponsors employment or intended employment in the UK, for example a contract or offer of employment, salary slips, etc. no problem
* evidence of contact between you and your sponsor for example letters, email, telephone bills, etc. no problem
Questions and concerns:
* We are both divorced, which was covered in the application. Divorce certificates were not on the list. Should I send them anyway?
* We registered to marry during my last visit to the UK (getting in just before the law change on Feb 1). Should I send a copy of the confirmation letter from the registrar? Since the registration required divorce certificates, will this negate the previous question?
* What about a copy of my C.V. and statement of my intention of finding work as soon as I am legally able to do so?
* My fiance lost his job and just started a new one. Will that make financial problems?
We're in a real time crunch. The wedding registrar told us we did not need a fiance visa, since we registered before the law change, so we set an early date (March 5). Doing our own research convinced us that she was mistaken, and that I would not be able to adjust status from visitor to spouse, and that I would have to return to the US to apply for a spousal visa if I married on a visitor visa. Is there time to do this by mail, or should I drive to NY? ( I live in Virginia)
Any help and advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
