Last night I got my acceptance letter for post-graduate study from St Andrews.
I've known unofficially that I was getting in for a while now, so it's not a big surprise, but it is nice to have the actual piece of paper confirming it.
I'm going to be working on a M.Litt then a Ph.D. in History. I'm going to be doing Early Modern Central Europe - Habsburgs, Prague, Rudolf II around 1600. Especially the development of science with scholars like Kepler and Tycho Brahe in Rudolf's court.
What is really great is that as part of my wife negotiations for her faculty job with the St A's biology department she got them to agree that I can pay home fees rather than international fees. That make a BIG difference, as I'm sure the rest of the American students know well. Be jealous!
And thank you Anne; it's nice to me married to someone so brilliant and who is in demand by universities.
See you all over there in the fall.
