passport renewal
« on: April 13, 2005, 10:52:28 PM »
i know proberly wrong section, but thought i would see if anyone could help.
My usa passport is up for renewal, i submitted form and pics and fee ($67.00 money order), anyway the pics i sent the us embassy in london said where too small, they need to be 2" by 2" blah blah

does anyone know where or who in britian can do these photos?
or have any advice? i need my passport back soon as my Flr is about to expire next month,
not a good spot to be in with the us embassy holding my passport hostage (figure of speech)

Try having a look in the yellow pages under photographers?... they all do passport photos, but you could phone them to ask if they do American ones (special size).  I was able to find one in Edinburgh.

Has anyone ever submitted a passport application to the US Embassy and NOT had a problem with the photos? We also ran into the same thing and I hear it quite often people having trouble. Good thing there are a few places near the embassy that do passport photos.

Like Otterpop said, have a look in the yellow pages.

The reason why for the odd size is the fact that the image is scaned and digitaly printed in the new passport. It has to be that size for the passport office back in the states to be able to print it.

Have you thought about doing it yourself? For my british passport application I had a friend take the picture with a digital camera, re-sized it to the proper size, and printed it on photographic paper. This took about 10 minutes and cost about £1.

I would just pay to have the photos prof. done. Its not worth the hassle of being denied. The US Embassy is very very picky about photos.
