Sherry
« on: November 19, 2005, 01:51:27 PM »
My mom has graciously volunteered to be 'Santa' after discovering that British Santa gets sherry and mincemeat pies.   ;D

I have to say, however, that neither DH nor I has ANY experience fo sherry at all.

ANY suggestions for a reasonably-priced, quality bottle appreciated.

TIA  :)

When I was in Jerez, the birthplace of sherry, I remember seeing signs all over the place for a brand called Tio Pepe.  It was completely Budweiser scale marketing, so my guess is that it would be reasonably priced and not some elite brand.  Personally..I don't drink the stuff, but I know there is sweet and dry varieties.

I'm 55, prefer a sweet sherry and love, love, love Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry.

She's 64, normally a whisky drinker.  I think I might have to give Harvey's a try!  :D

I'm a single malt scotch drinker myself normally, so perhaps she'll like the cream sherry too.

I would also go with Harvey's.....I do not normally drink sherry, but have tried it and it is good.

I was named after the stuff and still can't stand the stuff......maybe the sweet one might be more to my liking (only tried the dry)

Not being a sherry drinker (neither sweet nor dry appeals to me), I have found that if one MUST drink sherry, Harvey's is tolerable.

(Just thought you'd appreciate the ringing endorsement!)

;D Sherry is just fortified wine, so why not just get a bottle of Scotland's most famous fortified wine:  BUCKFAST!  ;)   ;D
