Sticks = ? ... Chocolate cake cravings too
« on: April 24, 2005, 01:51:21 PM »
I have a recipe that calls for 2 sticks of unsalted butter. What would that be equivalent to in the UK in grams or even if oz (preferable grams)?

Speaking of which, anyone got a tried and tested, gorgeous chocolate cake recipe? Got craving and looking to bake it in time for 5.30pm today for Sunday dinner. Can't seem to find one that requires only 1 round cake tin (8inch possibly? although I got quite a wider one which I think is 9inch as well as a rectangular sized one).

A stick of butter is equal to 4 oz, or 113 grams.

Sorry, I can't help you with your chocolate cake. I do have a scrummy lemon cake recipe, though, if you're interested.

Thanks Belindaloo! *hugs*

Can I have that lemon cake recipe please? Won't get a chance to make them today since I won't have some of the ingredients (like lemon lol) but hopefully next week after my move. Thanks again.

Here's the lemon cake recipe. It's from www.epicurious.com, one of my very favorite websites:

Hope you enjoy it! The topping/filling is what makes this recipe. It's soooo good!

There are two excellent flourless chocolate cake recipes on here, one that is less involved and one very grand- a friend made the "Lola" one for me and it was awesome! (Someone is making the "Kellie cake" for me another time ;)

Hehe looks like next weekend, I'll be busy putting on weig... umm I meant baking  ;)

Will definately try Lola's recipe. Kellie's recipe looks yummy but unfortunately for me, husband is allergic to nuts (especially people eating whole nuts in front of him; not too bad with peanut butter/nutella, etc) so I normally do not have them in stuff I cook/bake or eat it when he's around. Even have to brush my teeth properly before I can kiss him after eating peanut butter or nutella.  :-\\\\ One mini question about Lola's recipe.... Lola you mentioned 30mins EXACTLY, is that for gas oven? New place going to be electric oven (assuming it's fan assisted) do I reduce the tempreature and time as well and by how much/to what?

It's 30 minutes exactly, no matter what!  I've made it in gas and electric ovens (fan assisted and not) and always take it out at the 30 minute mark...and it's always good!   ;D
