Overdue and fed up
« on: April 24, 2005, 03:38:59 PM »
Well, I am now 10 days overdue, the size of a house and at a loss for anything new to try.  I have done just about everything except castor oil, and just can't seem to bring myself to take it.  I am due to be induced on Wednesday and am not looking forward to it.  It just seems so anticlimactic.  Any suggestions out there?

Oh, poor you.  Hugs.  All three of mine wanted to stay in and never come out.   :-\\\\  Go for a very long walk, walk up and down every stair case you can find, and try going for a drive and hitting every speedbump in the vicinity.

I can relate with being fed up by being overdue, my first was this way.  I remember feeling so large and the Doctors just kept telling me to walk.  I did not find walking helpful.  I would do what Mindy suggested.  Lots of good thoughts headed your way.

I tried everything under the sun with my first, including jumping up and down (a sight that reduced my husband to helpless giggles), power walking, lifting heavy things, red wine, Chinese food, and swimming.  None of it worked.  I didn't try castor oil or "nipple stim" because apparently they can bring on dangerously hard contractions-so I wouldn't recommend either of those.  Bottom line is, it will start when the baby's ready.  I know how much it sucks to wait, though.  Hope it ends soon!

Raspberry leaf tea and lots of spicy food seemed to do the trick for me.

Sex! I know its the last thing on your mind but I was a week late with my second son and it helped me!

Best wishes, honey!

The thing that worked for me was a sympathetic midwife who offered to give me a cervical sweep. Nothing worked to get Philip here and she felt bad for me - I went into labor7 hours after my visit to her office. Seriously, call your midwife up (if you like her) and see if she'll do something like that, of course - if you are comfortable with it. And I know not all midwices are happy to do them.

Aparently complaining on here also helps.  Started into labor last night.  Thanks for all the support.   Things seem to be picking up, hopefully not too long now...
