FLR(O) forms invalid!
« on: May 01, 2005, 03:31:11 PM »
If you downloaded an FLR(O) form prior to last Friday, you'll need to throw it away and start all over again with the correct form.  The correct form has been mounted on IND's site.

I just finished accompanying an American overstayer in to POE and was abruptly informed that they do not accept the FLR(O) forms prior to last week because they have mistakes and omissions on them.  They had the correct forms there, and I filled it out by hand.  Most inconvenient.

In the end, she got legal, and I came back to download and examine the new form.  Additionally, all the field lengths have changed so a new Acrobat template has to be done from scratch.

So if you filled out an FLR(O) last week or prior, and were planning on forking out 500 quid and a day-trip to Croydon, you can avoid a rude shock by starting all over again.

They are not accepting the old ones full stop.

One other thing that I was going to mention to *YOU*, DUC...

I had downloaded this program that lets your broadband connect to various television stations around the world - originally for my DDGW, who pines away for Russian TV (you know, MASH, Cheers, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, good Russian TV shows).  But then I got to fooling around with it and LO, there's the (trupet & violin flourish) Seattle Channel   ;D

Right away I think, "whoa, gotta tell driveup about THIS!"

Now before you get too excited, I can attest that most of it is a load of old scrote.  Seattle Symphony, Seattle Ballet, Seattle News, and drivel like that.  But sometimes it's quite good.  Last week there was an interview with Noam Chomsky which I managed to connect to a recording program and made an AVI file out of it.  Which I'll probably never watch, but it was a great show anyway.

So if you're going to hang around in Old Blightey for a while, might as well try it  ;D   There's a trial version at holersoft dot net...  Hope that's not a commercial plug  :-[
