Im an American applying for a work permit as a means to be with my girlfriend. Im going through a solicitor(or lawyer)and all the needed documents are in. This has been a ten month long process and every minute of it has been agonizing to say the least.
Oddly, upon hearing that my solicitor is putting my application through and we will find out if I get it within 5 days, Im extremely nervous about hearing the results.
The good news is, no ones responded to the advert Toni & Guy ran across the EU meaning they have found no citizens to fill my position. However the bad news, I asked my solicitor and she said the only reason I wouldnt get it is because they do not find me to be qualified enough. Mind you, I sent the required letter in that says I worked in a salon for three years and the details of my job description.
My question is, do you think she would send this application in if she didnt think I stood a chance? And, shes asking for payment (1000 pound plus) after I find out if I get it or not...shouldnt I be paying for an application fee prior to it being sent in?
And does anyone know how exactly they approve of it in the five days? By that I mean is it a 20 minute process or do they really look into it?
Also, my solicitor said that they mostly look into the employers information and not so much mine...do you think theres any truth to that?
Any help would greatly ease my nerves!
