Letter of promised employment

What exactly will the embassy be looking for in a 'letter of promised employment'?

sorry, maybe I did'nt make myself clear in what I was asking for... I undertand that its to be on headed paper with telephone number and name of company, plus name of person writing the letters - but what I really needed to know is whether there is a certain 'rate of pay' that has to meet recomendations - does it have to state how much the wage is in other words.

What kind of visa is this for?

Hiya Britwife .. its for my hubby's spousal visa. 

Long story short - we are both living in US.  My AOS interview is next month, but I'm not going - moving to UK instead. 

We have no money, but a promise of  a job for hubby and a lease for a house! thats about it.  I have no qualms about me getting work as I can also go temping (the agency have left me on their books).

I want the visa in our hands before I go back end of June, and hubby will follow end of July.

Just a bit worried about having to prove that we can support ourselves really !

Just curious what kind of UK company would promise your hubby a job while he is still living in the US?  Did he travel to the UK previously for an interview?  How did he get the promise?

The company who has promised him employment is owned by a very good friend of mine.  I realise that without this help, we would have struggled somewhat - but I am very lucky to have such a friend who is willing to help us.

Is your hubby getting a spousal visa or a work visa?  Are you a UK citizen?

Yes, we are applying for a spousal visa for hubby and yes, I am a british citizen. 

I've been over here in USA since last February with  my K1 visa - we got married in Apr and applied for my AOS, EAD and AP.  Got my AP, was denied my EAD cos I put the wrong code down  and we decided it was time to move to UK - long story short that is  .

I've not been out of UK for 2 years, and have not been given permanent residency here in US - in fact my AOS interview is for May 20, but I have cancelled it as its not worth going now.

if your british...you shouldnt have to have a job waiting for him...what i mean is...you shouldnt have to show the promise of a job...just have him apply as the spouse.  my husband is british...i couldnt work for nearly 2 years when comming here...they never wanted proof of job off me.  only thing i suggest is that you come first and set up home and get a job...then bring him over...as long as your job can support you both...there shouldnt be a problem...lest i think...see what others say before following my advise though...
