Try making home made salsa.  It's really easy.

Chop lots of fresh, ripe tomatoes, onion,  chilis, fresh coriander, fresh lime juice and bell pepper (I usually use red, but green, orange or yellow are good too.  If you make more than one batch - one hot, one mild - different coloured peppers can help you identify which is which).  You can make it as hot as you like.  It's so incredibly fresh and makes the store bought varieties seem slimy.

Yes, it is.  Use fresh.  The dried stuff doesn't taste as good for something like a fresh salsa.
