Could somebody point me to information?
« on: May 16, 2005, 01:10:14 PM »
I am going to the states next month. My 16-year-old daughter is coming back with me for 2 weeks on a visit. In other posts I have read that I need to have a notarized letter from my ex-husband stating that he is aware she is coming with me and that he gives his permission. I need to know the website that states this. He will not give me a letter just because I ask for it. He's going to have to know that it's definitely required and the only way he will believe this is if I provide him with the website so he can read it for himself. I thought about not even getting the letter from him and getting it from my oldest daughter since she holds voluntary guardianship of the 16-year-old but then decided that I didn't want to run into any problems with immigration.

I doubt you'll need a letter just for a two week holiday.  If she was coming over to live permanently, that might be different but as you'll only be bringing her over for a short visit, you should be fine.  You may want to ask on the parenting board though as there are many folks there who have been in similar situations.

When I came on holiday with my daughter no letter was needed--- only when I applied for our visas to move here.
