Rice Paper Rolls. Source for Asian food!
« on: June 06, 2004, 12:57:16 AM »
Okay I was making Vietnamese spring rolls today... well they can be Thai as well or Cambodian... the fresh ones not deep fried made with rice paper and basil..... and I just thought... dang do they have them in London.... so I was wondering if someone could tell me if there is a store in the UK that focuses on South East Asian food and Japanese food.  I did find a small one in Plymouth, but who knows if it is still there and the stuff was not as fresh as I would have liked.

Thanks!

There is a huge Japanese supermarket in Piccadilly circus, on Piccadilly itself. near the Garfunkles Restaurant and cinema (if its still there) just near the eros statue.

There's a Thai food store in either Paignton or Torquay.

I had Singaporean flatmates who seemed to find most of what they needed in Chinatown in London but haven't looked myself.

What I want are the ingredients to make the Philippino version of spring rolls - lumpia! To die for!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
