Marraige proceedures in the UK... and a thank you :P
« on: June 04, 2005, 06:40:47 PM »
First of all, let me thank everyone who has posted in reply to my many questions in the past. If it wasn't for you we wouldn't have been able to do what we have done.

What have we done? Well, my American fiancee left England and me behind to go apply for her fiancee visa, she did the online fastrack way and got everything back, including her passport (with the visa inside) within 10 days!!! A very happy day for us.

Now we are both back int he UK together and planning on getting married soon, but we're a little confused as to how, neither of us has married before either so that doesn't make it any easier... Do we need to apply for another visa? What supporting documents do we need to take when we want to book a time for our marraige?

Any info greatly appreciated! :)

She'll need to apply for further leave to remain once you are married, this should be done within 6 months of the date her fiancée visa was issued.

As for getting married conact your local resgierty office for details. If they are not a designated office for marrying non EU nationals they'll tell you where your nearest one is.

They'll tell you what documents you'll need, but it'll proabbly be both your passports, and documents showing both your names and addresses. Things like council tax bills, utilly bills, driving licences etc.
