Get Stuff for FREE or Get RID of it - freecycle.org
« on: April 04, 2005, 03:32:08 PM »
There was a thread about a couple of months back in ChitChat regarding www.freecycle.org, it's where people offer and request stuff for free!
I think it's a great way to dispose of your unwanted items. First you go to the main site and then choose from your nearest location under the "International" groups - I signed up with the London freecycle group yesterday ... put up an unused scanner to give away around noon today and it has already been picked up!

So, anyway, I've also just offered a circular saw from the US (120V) - so if you are going back soon and need something to get started with your DIY project, grab it now! :) My nym there is 'zorragrrrl' (in the London group only).

Definitely worth checking out!  8)

what a good idea.   :)  I've just joined and am thinking of finally getting rid of the sand box.

I have just picked up a toddler bed for free and am so happy with the site, excpet for the fact of the amount of WANTS. My local site has had trouble with people listing 30+ items they want.

Yeah, I'm officially no longer member of any Christian affiliation - God bless the deceased Pope - nevertheless, one holy rule is good in any case: "give and you'll get" ... umm, or it's still a leftover guilt causing feeling they indoctrinated onto my innocent mind: "gimme gimme gimme" will leave you with nothing.

ouch ... what a dose of moral sh*te, must be my PMS  ::)

I love freecycle!  I got THE most beautiful blue 1945 bicycle, a great armchair and a butler sink for a planter.  I did find the London one overwhelming, so I tend to just go for Oxford/East Berkshire stuff.

I joined the day this thread started. Its a great idea! The only problem is the number of people wanting stuff, they need a different board or something. Some of the things people ask for is ridiculous. Peope looking for iPods and laptops,PS2 consoles. To many opprortunists.
