Question
« on: May 24, 2005, 02:54:20 PM »
This is a hypothetical, so bear with me...

Suppose someone is here on a work permit.  They meet someone and get engaged.  As the someone is on a work permit, I'm assuming they don't need a finance visa.  Then they decide to marry in the UK.  What do they need to do now?

Thanks!

I would say that "hypothetical person" had better get their  *ss in gear!  They need 3+ months of unspent leave!  :o

If that "hypothetical" person had 3 or more months of unspent leave remaining on their work permit, they would download and fill out a COA form and send it in.  When it comes back approved, they would take it to the registry office (I recommend Marylebone Road).  The registrar will take your notice and give you some tentative dates for booking a room.  After your marriage, you get your FLR and can tell your WP sponsor to take a hike.   ;D

(pm if problem on COA)

Oi! Is this an announcement?  Heh.  If so, thumbs up!  Roy is a great guy.   :D
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

No...if/when I have an announcement I will be SHOUTING it.  But I thought it's best to be prepared for future.  And I'll have plenty of leave on my work permit...it's going to be extended as far as I can tell after this winter...

Thanks Garry!
