Marriage certificate

Just double-checking:When you get married, you get your marriage certificate right after the ceremony, right?  You don't have to wait for it to be mailed to you, do you?

I'm asking because we get married on a Saturday, and I have an appointment to apply for FLR the following Tuesday.

Er... we got married in Scotland, but we had to wait for ours to come by post.  Sorry... :-\\\\

We got married in England in a church and got it that day. Better check with your church/registry office.

We were at the a registry and got it handed to us that day. (I asked for an extra copy, believe me it's useful!!!)

In the US, it depends on the state. Sometimes you have to wait for it to come in the post.

Got married here in the UK and got our certificate at the ceremony.  Asked for 2 extras as well and got those at the same time (asked for the extras when we booked the registrar).

Since we were married in Kent, we got a beautiful Kentish marriage certificate as well.

We got marrried in Wales and it was given to us straight away (all in Welsh!). You do have to pay for it though so take some cash or a chequebook.  We asked for 2 extra copies and those were mailed to us a few days later.

I would check to see if you are able to file the paperwork yourself in the state you are getting married.  I turned mine in the Monday after the wedding and received the certificate the same day instead of waiting for it to mailed in and processed.  I wanted to get my UK visa the same week so it worked out well for us.

We had to give the registrar £95 at least 4 weeks before the wedding, which we've done. Do we have to pay still more for the marriage certificate? I thought everything was included in the £95.

I believe one Certificate is included.  We paid something like £3.00 for the second one.
