Tube Monthly Passes
« on: June 30, 2005, 05:47:43 AM »
Hi all,

Quick question about getting a tube card for commuting.  Is this called the oyster card or something else?  I will be living and working in London and will be using the tube a lot.  What is the average price of a monthly pass versus the annual pass?  Thanks.

Hi yes it's the Oyster card - it's topped up electonically. Prices depend on how many zones you travel through. You should be able to find out most of what you need to know here:

An oyster card for zones 1 and 2 is £82 a month.  You can buy a weekly, monthly, 3 month, 6 month or annual pass.  The further out of central London you live, the more you will pay.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…
