How long does it take to get a dentist appointment in the UK? Is dental still covered by the NHS, as hubby doesn't think so.

Depends on your region.  I couldn't find an NHS dentist taking new patients here, so a work colleague referred me to her private one.  I got an appointment the next week and got DD signed on as a patient.

The NHS do provide it, it could just be quite difficult to obtain depending on your region.

It is still covered by the NHS but, depending on where you are in the UK, you may not have an NHS dentist anywhere near you. From what I hear, there are fewer and fewer of them around. I have private (DenPlan) dental insurance for that very reason. I have no problems getting appts with my dentist but I'm not sure how it would be for an NHS dentist.

I have a private plan as well.  Pay £30 a month for all three of us.

I'm in the Medway area and didn't have a problem finding an NHS dentist.  And just about 6 months ago we got 3 different fliers for NHS dentists taking on new patients.  Guess we're in a lucky area.

Its taking me 3 months for us to see a new dentist in the states and I find this a long time to wait. Even though my daughter has a tooth ache they can not fit her in earlier. Its a shame but what can ya do. I called around and some have even longer waiting times.
