Luau(BBQ) recipes anyone???
« on: July 13, 2005, 01:43:37 PM »
We are having a Luau theme gathering at our house next weekend so I'm needing a few vegan/ vegetarian recipes for the non meat guest.  As well as that I wouldn't mind some cocktail recipes as well as some different bbq meat recipes... ;D
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

Well, this is more a dessert thing, but it's GOOD!  Saw it on one of Nigella's shows....

Slice a pineapple lengthwise into 8 wedges.  Thread each wedge onto a skewer that's been soaked in water.  Sprinkle with demarara sugar and throw on the grill for a few minutes until lightly browned.  Melt some dark chocolate and throw in a splash (or six!) of Malibu and dip the pineapple "lollies" in the sauce.

LOL!!!  I saw that yesterday, looks so yummy!!!

Sorry, I have no recipes.  I'll look around a bit for some though.

A nice thing for vegetarians to put on the barbecue is tofu that has been marinated in soy sauce, lemon juice & garlic for at least an hour.  Greeat cut into chunks on skewers with veggies.

Here's a great variation of a kamikaze we used to make all the time in college.  It's fruity and fun, and if you mix it right completely lethal. ;D

Pine-A-Cran-Ikaze

Soak chunks of pineapple in plain (not flavored) vodka at least 24 hours (the longer, the better)

Mix pineapple vodka with a splash of cranberry juice and triple sec.  Serve over ice.
