HSMP (Highly Skilled Migrant Programme)
« on: October 01, 2003, 03:44:42 AM »
I'm considering applying for the HSMP visa because it appears that I meet the minimum requirements as listed on the IND website ( newcomer link: http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/default.asp?PageId=2757 [nonactive] ). However, I've spoken with an immigration consulting firm here, and the man I spoke with made it sound like there was much more to it than just meeting the minimum 75 points requirement, i.e. just because you score the minimum points doesn't mean they'll grant you the visa. The immigration firm sent me an assessment form, which I have filled out, and while I wait to hear back from them, I thought I'd post a message on this forum.

Does anyone here have an HSMP visa or have experience with the HSMP visa? Is there any insight anyone can offer into obtaining this visa? Has anyone here been rejected for the HSMP visa or know anyone who has been?

As further background, I'm currently in the UK and nearing the end of my second year on a work permit. I've had the misfortune of being made redundant, since my company has gone into bankruptcy. However, I would very much like to remain in the UK and thought that the HSMP visa might provide a more flexible route for me to find a new job, rather than trying to find a new work permit sponsor.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
