« on: July 25, 2005, 02:04:45 PM »
Hmph.  Ok, here i am, sitting at home on a work day (heaven!) and wanting a bit of cooking inspiration (as i missed saturday kitchen this weekend) and i see Nigella is on.

great, i'll get some cooking time in.

NO!  It's talk show format.  WHat the heck.  Get in the kitchen and show me some stuff!

I've been watching for half an hour and i've only seen one thing made, and she didn't even tell me how

Dangit!

I think her website tells you how to make the recipe she makes on the show for the day.

Do you have Sky? Her cooking show is on UKTV Food every few days.

I'm afraid her new show is getting pretty bad reviews. Sounds like you found out why!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

she's been getting flack since they've said that her recipes aren't exactly hers...*shrugs*

Really? Haven't heard that. I have a few of her cookbooks and as far as I'm aware, she's pretty good at crediting others for their recipes or acknowledging that she's tweaked someone's recipe. And unless some ghostwriter is behind the scenes, IMHO there is no doubt the woman loves food and writes about it well.

I suspect that a lot of the flack is sour grapes.

I just scanned Nigella's website.  Some of the recipes look wonderful, I am know dreaming of what I can duplicate.

A friend of mine was telling me how she made pink lemonade.. With lemons, sugar, water and raspberries. Too bad I've been making homemade lemonade like that for years.

I think it was in the Metro that stated that some folks were badmouthing her originality...but really isn't most recipes spin off from old ???...I've been doing Jamie Oliver style cooking for years...if I only new to call it Naked chef ...I'd be rich.
