I hope that's just for asylum seekers - but, it's the fault of the asylum seekers that is making it so !"£$%^ difficult for those of us just wanting to be with our beloved spouses! >:(

It's not their fault. It's because of bogus marriages. Asylum seekers have every right to want to live here too.

Besides, if someone wants American citizenship they have to take a testm so what's the big deal?

Ok, ok, ok...don't bite my head off!  It's not their fault.  But, anyway, I wasn't talking about citizenship; I fully expect and agree that their should be test to accompany citizenship.  I was talking about ILR.  Sorry, I'm very stressed over it.  I'll go worry more quietly. ~~sigh~~
I was born in the Summer and at Night...my mother named me AUTUMN DAWN.  True story.

Well they've now announced a date for the tests, all applications after 1 November 2005 will need to sit it.  It looks like the english language requirement will fall away as you're expected to have sufficient knowledge of the language to sit the test or go for the course that helps you get the level of english you require to be able to take the test (the course are also supposed to prepare you for the test) - that las bit was a mouthful!

Was kinda hoping it would come into effect after July 2006! oh well!

Here's the page its on (its actually in a pdf file on the first link)

I hope if we have to take a test the cost will go down, but more than likely is that it will go up to cover the price to print the test material :(
