What would you eat for your last meal
« on: July 22, 2005, 12:51:03 AM »
Since I am on this ever relentlase crusade to focus on nothing but food (at least my las few post seem to indicate that) I was wondering if I could start a non controversial thread and ask that you answer the following question....

If you were going to die tomorrow and could choose your last meal, what would you choose andwhy if you wanna share.

I would choose my moms baked beans, and her potato salad, mac and cheese, big piece of fried chicken breast and a frozen coke.  For desert I would want a Hersey Bar cake with double fudge ice cream and hot fudge sauce (I mean after all it is the last meal so who cares how many cal)

I'd start with a small Caesar salad, then a filet mignon with Bearnaise sauce, mac and cheese made with Red Leicester, asparagus, peach crisp with double cream, and Irish coffee.  Then I'd eat dark chocolate covered cashews until the end.  Why?  Cuz it's goooooood.
When I find a funnier sig than twistedncynical's, it will be here.

Totally easy! I would play Roman (with purging trip between courses...sorry, I know it's gross but there's no way I could eat all of the following otherwise!) and eat everything I've been missing since I left New Orleans...a Hurricane from Pat O'Brien's (cocktail), start with oyster-artichoke soup from Landry's, a shrimp po-boy from We-Never-Close, a muffaletta from Central Grocery, Eggplant Pirouge from Copeland's, and for dessert...hmmm...Turtles from McKenzie's AND a Ragin' Cajun snoball from Papa's snoball stand on the Northshore!

Nanaday, girl, you really need to cheer up and start thinking about happier things! Last meal?

After the events of the last two weeks, I think it's sort of morbid to talk about this.  But that's just my 2p.  :-\\\\
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

::)  ::)  ::) Could not think of another way to ask what you would eat....thought of the "If you were on a desert Island" bit but where would you cook your food and refrigerate it???? LOL  So...I opted for the last meal!  ;)

I'd start with wild mushrooms over fried polenta, in a demi-glace

Followed by grilled Chilean seabass, accompanied by molten butter/cheese mashed potatoes and sugar snap peas. (Since it's my last meal, I guess I don't have to worry about clogged arteries, right?)

Then a good salad of mixed field greens with some raspberries and pecans thrown in, all in a basic vinaigrette

Then bread pudding with proper pouring cream

Then a nice assortment of cheeses (Stilton, St. Andre, Emmentaler and a good mature English cheddar spring to mind).

The perhaps a plate of Neuhaus hazelnut truffles.

Now I'll have to think about which wines I want for each course! ;)
