Anyone hear/agree with/considered  the theory that obesity in this lifetime is as a result of being in a startvation situation in a previous life?

I know this idea is not for everyone and I am not putting it forward as something that is **true**, but I have read it and found it thought provoking.

I don't really have anything specific. Sorry! I read the idea in a Brian Weiss book and his theory is that many of the things we struggle with now are a direct result of something happening in a previous life.

I was starved when I was younger.......both myself and my younger sister....we were living with my grandmother..my mom and dad had seperated...my mom was working a night job and she would fix dinner before she left and her half brother would come in with his dope friends and eat everything before we had a chance to get any...she took us to the dr. and he told her we were malnourished.....

I hoard food now..I buy stuff I don't ever eat......my cabinets are full of shite......but I buy food everyday!

I have always wondered if that had anything to do or contribute to me being overweight?

MeShell, I'm not trying to get all "Dr. Phil" on you, but I believe you're right, it wouldn't be surprising if you started an addictive relationship with food because of your traumatic childhood experience. SORRY to hear about that!  I remember my (evil) step mother would punish me by sending me to bed without dinner, that is not too bad but I think it's a bad thing to do, children need nutrition and there are other ways to discipline them.
I also have tons of crap in my cabinets that I don't even eat! lol
