Help! Computer Keyboard Assistance Needed!
« on: July 28, 2005, 12:11:11 AM »
I know this is a really weird question but can't find anything on point at Microsoft web site. (Don't laugh!)

I was contentedly strolling through forum, reading posts, etc. when my cat decided I wasn't paying enough attention to him. Before I could stop him, he jumped up and STOOD on my keyboard! @$##$## Since then, some of the fonts are blurry and faded (the signatures and avatars on each post, for instance). I can't figure out what he did nor how to correct it. Does anyone have any ideas?

I wish I could  be of help? I did a google search to see what came up for "computer keyboard problem" and found it very strange that this came up: http://bitboost.com/pawsense/ when I never entered anything about cats! Must be common, unfortunately that is only to prevent the problem. Hopefully you will get it sorted soon!

What a scream! That is so funny! I think I'm going to purchase the software before the cats (I have 3) do REAL damage! Thanks for the research!

BTW, the problem "fixed" itself when I rebooted.  :)

Ah.. Bless his little furry paws......    :)       It sounds as though he might have somehow switched you into a lower resolution video mode -- Different pixel size, and smaller range of colors.    Hard to say much more without having seen it happen.

More than once I've been happily typing away and then the sentence just ends up as xxxxxxxxm$%$yfnbearfnjcv,m,,,,,.   or something equally incomprehensible.    I had a cat once who liked to drape herself above the monitor and try to catch the cursor as I was typing.  :)

Paula, are you on a laptop or a desktop? I had that prob. with my laptop once and it was something to do with a driver going funny, but I had the feeling when sorting it out that it was a laptop-specific issue.

Bless your little furball - isn't it funny how kitties always gravitate to the one place we don't want them? Mine is forever trying to do one of two things - climb onto my computer (now she knows it's off limits and she just puts a paw on the desk next to me and looks at me like "I know it's wrong, but can't I please?") or sit on my bloody newspaper. What is it about cats and newspapers??!! It's so infuriating!!!!!!!!!!!

Anne, it's a desktop. I don't know what the little darling did but it fixed itself and everything's fine now. Although, it's getting harder and harder to work/play at my computer...one cat tries to take over the keyboard, one lays on top of the monitor, watching the screen upside down, and the other wants to share my chair...not beside me, not in my lap, but behind me, sharpening her claws on my backside...ya think they're trying to tell me something?!
