I'm a pilates fan myself but I don't think there is one solution for everyone. I wish you success though! :)

I don't think there's really such a thing as spot reducing. You can do ab exercises but if you've got a layer of fat over your abs, you won't be able to see the washboard that is most likely lurking under there.

I have been working out for a few months and am starting to get definition, but it's all still under a fat layer! I'm trying my best to get rid of it. If you do discover some sort of miraculous technique, let us know about it! :)

LOL, Helen!!!

The only thing that has EVER made me feel "lean" is yoga. I've never done pilates, but I suspect that might as well.... Yoga just makes me feel longer, leaner, and more graceful and improves my posture so that it disguises some of the flabby bits better!  :P

This is how pilates makes me feel too.

When I actually have the self discipline to DO it LOL!

I started doing Windsor Pilates 2 or 3 months ago, I haven't done it as instructed but I have noticed much more flexibility, I've never been able to touch my toes!?!  And now I can, I also can do situps wth my legs flat and my feet not lifting up.  I have noticed a less "bloated" looking me but no real definition (my fault because I only do it 1-2x a week).  I just bought this Yoga dvd but the lady on the tape has the most ANNOYING austrailian accent!!  I don't dislike austrailian accents, just hers!  I can't get past her voice.  But I am interested in finding a local yoga class for beginners.
I'm desperate to be fit! ;D

The best way to get rid of stubborn belly fat is to do some type of intense cardiovascular exercise within your target heart rate for 30-45 minutes preferrably three times a week.  I prefer running 5x per week, 4-8 miles per session, then I lift weights.  Whatever cardio program you are on now, I suggest to try and double it and see if you get any results.  Its a pain, but the results are worth it.  Nice six pack.
