Raising a USA flag?

I do not see why it matters. One of my mothers neighbors has a US flag and an Austrian flag as he is American and she is Austrian, they met in the war, fell in love and have been married 50 plus years.

If we had a flag pole I would fly the UK and US flags, I have a UK flag on my front door window. I do not have a US flag out anywhere, not sure why, just never thought of it.

  After a bit of thought I think there would be an appropriate way to fly an American flag in another country. Munchie suggested flying both the Union and the American together. That's not a bad suggestion for someone who really has a desire to fly it.

Once a topic gets a bit stressful and the cheerful banter fades, it's just no fun, really.

Why would raising the flag of your original country be disrespectful?  Just because you are happy about your move to another country (and may be staying there forever) doesn't mean you necessarily have to forget your roots.  There are many people over here who I've seen flying flags from other countries.  I probably won't fly an American flag more often than not but if I was given one by a family member, I don't see why I would have to hide it.  While I'm living in England and will probably become a UK citizen, I am still a citizen of another country too.  And I'm proud of that heritage.  And there is NOTHING wrong with that.

It's a shame that you had to put an infamatory comment on a board where many of us needed the help and wanted to find some good people.  It'd be even more of a shame if such comments drove people from an overall good board with some good people.  Or drove people away who really do need help with learning about how to move to a new country.
