For real!  Why should I let total strangers into my home or have to prove who I am to them when it's their friggin' job to locate the debtor?  Bring the police, sure, we'll show our ID and tenancy agreement.  It's a rental flat, people come and go.  Duh!  Public records can tell you who owns a place.

When they're charging hundreds of pounds to provide their 'services' I'll be damned if I'm gonna do their job for them or make their lives easier.

They may already have a warrant from the court - if so you do have to let them in I'm afraid.  But that is no excuse for them behaving like bankers.

Let em in yeah, I agree......pay for the Jag they roll up in or the gold dripping off them....not me. When you grow up in a housing project in Boston ya learn quick about extortion and that's what it is......legalized extortion. This bum was actually picking his breakfast out of his teeth and acting like he was one of the Kray brothers :o

I'm not saying it's right but if they have a warrant you have to let them in or they have the right to force entry.  It's the same as if the police come to your house with a warrant.

Yes, if they have a search warrant you are obliged to let a TVL inspector in, just as you would be for a police officer with a warrant.

To get a warrant though, they have to show a judge reasonable cause as to why they think you have broken the law.

"We detected television equipment operating within the premises and the readings indicated it was receiving a local braodcast."  - Reasonable cause.

"There's no license at this address and we think somebody might be watching TV illegally, so we'd like to go in and check"  -- Not reasonable cause.

Britwife I do agree with ya believe me, everyone needs to play by the same rules, I just wonder WHERE they get some of these characters from and if push came to shove whether some of their tactics would hold up in court ,because backed by the court in the end or not, SOME of them need a reality check.

Oh I am sure you're right about that Celtic.  I think they probably get them the same place they get nightclub bouncers.
