My question is: If we get married, what will I have to do? Should I file some sort of amended application (because my current visa says I am single and have no dependents)? Or does it not matter because we were not married when I applied for the visa? When he applies for a student dependent visa, will I have to amend mine in order for his to be accepted? Given that you haven't entered the UK yet, and if you opted to play it by the book, you would file a variance with the consulate and your husband would simultaneously submit a VAF1 form as your dependent. It would matter because your approval was based upon the finance and accommodation for a single person, not a married person - and that's a substantive change of circumstances.
If you didn't file a variance at the consulate, which is optional, you would have to declare it to the IO upon arrival because a change of circumstances in the time between the issuance of a visa and subsequent arrival needs to be declared - and that's NOT optional.
If I have read this, and your other thread correctly, your strategy is to get married in order to facilitate your husband's entry into the UK. And having a marriage in close proximity to the issuance of your visa on the basis of being single could be seen by the ECO as less than salubrious motivation. Not that they would think that way when they saw his application, but they would be
entitled to think that way in the absence of any other information. So it might pay to give some thought on how to present it.
