Contact agencies before moving?

Im moving to the UK in a few weeks so I contacted 3 or 4 job agencies.  Sent them my resume and told them when I was moving.  Only one replied.  They said they couldnt read it.  So I resent it as...a doc file or something and that worked.  Since none of these other places replied, I also sent them this file (which was the second time I contacted them) figuring they had the same problem.

They still dont reply.  Should I stop bothering with this?  I dont want to alienate any more job agencies.  I want to get things set up as much as possible before moving because Ill need to find a job within a couple weeks of arriving budget-wise.  But these places dont reply. 

I know that some of the people on this board have had good experiences sending their CV ahead of time.  Personally, I was told to wait since they can't do anything until you are here.  Can you try some different places?  I would not push it with the ones you have contacted already.  If you do not hear back maybe let them know you are now in the country when you do arrive.

Generally speaking, agencies won't act on your CV unless you're able and willing to work right then and there. I'm assuming you have a visa that allows you to work (if you haven't then agencies can't touch you at all, it's against the law). Wait until you move to the UK and then start looking, you should have the offers rolling in.

No, I dont have any visas.  I have citizenship in an EU country.  At least one of these places specifically mentioned international applicants and thats why I responded but apparently they dont reply.  Ill wait until I move then.  The agencies were mostly like bar work and secretarial stuff so its not like I missed out on anything spectacular.
