Omega (Mayflower) Shipping and EuroUSA
« on: September 13, 2005, 03:45:55 PM »
My stuff arrived today and I wanted to leave some feedback for others to read.

July 14th, Omega picked up 12 rubbermaid totes, a trunk, a hope chest, a smallish cabinet and a rocking chair at my apartment in Massachusetts.  Just under two months later it's arrived safely in Leighton Buzzard!

I haven't checked inside all the totes yet, but the outsides seem fine (I went with the roughneck type rather than the clear plastic type as they're less prone to cracking).  The furniture arrived without a scratch for the most part.  One leg of the hope chest had cracked through, but on looking at it I suspect it was halfway there when they picked it up (there are signs that someone may have fixed it previously).

the breakdown of costs:

Door to Door shipment  for 200 cubic feet $1300
Fuel Surcharge $63.50
Terminal Handling Charge $97.50
Insurance Policy $45.00
Insurance at 3% of Value $198.15
Documentation $125

So $1829.15 paid to Omega Shipping

Then £45 paid to EuroUSA for Security Fee From Port

Communication with Omega was so-so, had to pester them on some issues.  But in the end they did a good job and wrapped up stuff really well (they bring this GIANT roll of paper-backed bubble wrap and wrap anything not in a box).

Communication with EuroUSA was good, they sent a form explaining everything and getting delivery details such as parking and what floor etc.  and saying it would be 2-3 weeks. Then they called a couple days later and said they had a cancellation and could I take delivery sooner than anticipated?
