Using a UK fiancee visa to marry abroad - possible?
« on: September 14, 2005, 09:25:49 PM »
Hi all,

My US girlfriend is currently in the US applying for a fiancee visa.  I am a UK citizen.  If we get the visa, she will be coming over to the UK asap.

We always intended to get married over here, but now we're considering marrying abroad in Jamaica.

Does anybody know if this is possible with a fiancee visa, or do you have to marry in the UK?

I have established you do have to be in Jamaica for a period of 48 hours before you can marry, which is possible for us.

Any relevant advice would be appreciated.

Best wishes,
Mr_E

A visa for the UK is not valid for any other country. You would need to check the visa requirements for Jamaica.

I would get married in the Uk..get your TLR and then go to Jamaica for a blessing.........
