Target-like store in London?
« on: October 09, 2003, 12:35:51 AM »
Hi everyone!  I can't believe my move is just 2 weeks away!!  Anyway, I'm getting set to settle in, and here in the States that would mean a big Target trip to get underbed storage, etc.

Is there a similar type cheapo store for basics in London?

Thanks!

:'(Nothing like Target exists here in London, more's the pity.  A decent option is Argos, though.  You just have to deal with the fact that you can't see and touch the merchandise before you get it.  You can pick up a free catalog and ponder your options, and then you go and fill out a slip with the merchandise numbers, take it up to a till to pay, and then wait for your items to come up at another counter.  I must say, we've had pretty good luck with it, though being a tactile person, I miss the merchadise interaction! ;)  We got our phone, toaster, tea kettle, drying rack, ironing board pad, iron, underbed storage, mattress pad, and possibly some other things there.  If without your own transportation, however, I'd recommend doing the shopping in batches - that stuff adds up, weightwise!!

Good luck!

Their website looks like they have exactly what I need...and there's one walking distance from the flat.  Perfect!

Thanks!!
