I passed too!

It must be a good week for US drivers in the UK! I passed my driving test too on Friday morning!  3 minor faults... second time around (I thank the wonderful test man I had this time around and my just being calmer!!)

I am now 100% legal! No more half student half spouse middle ground.

Congrats!  Hopefully I'll be joining the ranks of full fledged drivers soon-but I have 20+ years of bad habits to break.

Thanks guys... it is amazing at how after driving for so many years you feel like such a dweeb to fail.  However with a 38% pass rate here I guess I don't feel so badly.

I think they can find reasons to fail you if they want.  In my case it was a motorcylce driver that kept slowing down in front of me without braking, so much so that it was hard to keep the legal distance between us.  He wound up going 20 in a 40. My second mistake apparently was stopping on a line (after having stopped before the line) to wait for some guy that decided not to go right at a roundabout AFTER singalling that he would.  The tester (Elmer Fudd) told my instructor I was in the middle of the roundabout which is a lie because had we been in the middle we would have gotten hit. In all fairness though I was also nervous and did not drive as perfectly as I guess I could have.     

I guess I am telling people this so that they don't feel badly if they fail.  It just happens even to good drivers.  My instructor could not believe I did not pass, nor the second tester.  I had no lessons between my first test and second one.

After the first time, I was lucky to snag a last minute cancellation online though so I retook it within 3 weeks.   (Which is good because it had me waiting over 6 weeks.)   Their online booking is really great and you can change your appointment and find cancellations by checking frequently.
